VICE-CHANCELLOR MOURNS LATE PRO-CHANCELLOR

The Vice-Chancellor, University of Jos, Professor Seddi Sebastian Maimako (FCA), has joined members of the University’s Governing Council, Senate, Management, Staff, Students and the entire University Community to mourn the passing of our dear amiable Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the 13th Governing Council of the University, Late Prince Tony Momoh who transited unto glory on Monday 1st February, 2021.

 

In a condolence message to the Family and the University community, the Vice-Chancellor expressed great sadness over the painful demise of the Late Statesman whom he described as a role model, seasoned politician, administrator and Lawyer, veteran Journalist, accomplished professional and great Nigerian Nationalist. The Vice-Chancellor noted that during his lifetime, Late Prince Tony Momoh offered selfless service to his fatherland in many capacities, including being a Minister of Information and Culture of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from 1986-1990.

 

Professor Maimako stressed that Prince Tony Momoh’s untimely demise leaves a great void both in our hearts and minds which will be difficult to fill due to the wisdom and dedication that he brought to bear in the course of performing his duties as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the 13th Governing Council of the University of Jos. According to Professor Maimako, Late Prince Tony Momoh guided our University with dignity, dedication and vision and leaves behind a pioneering legacy of simplicity, warmth, care and affection for the University community and humanity in general.

 

He said Prince Tony Momoh was greatly respected and will long be remembered and sorely missed.

The Vice-Chancellor prayed God to grant Prince Tony Momoh's soul eternal rest and grant the family, the University of Jos community, Auchi Kingdom as well as the Government and People of Edo State fortitude to bear the loss. 

 

Meantime, Members of the University Community are hereby informed that a Condolence Register has been opened at entrance of the Senate/Administrative Building for receiving all condolence messages in honor of the Late Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Late Prince Tony Momoh.
